The First Pass Solves the Visible Problem

The first snow-removal visit has an obvious purpose: restore access.

Plows open vehicle lanes. Hand crews clear entrances and walkways. Accumulation is moved away from parking areas, ramps, and other priority surfaces. When crews leave, the property can look dramatically better than it did an hour earlier.

But visible improvement is not the same as stable winter conditions.

A snow removal follow up visit addresses what happens after the initial clearing. Snowbanks begin melting. Vehicles redistribute slush. Pedestrians compact residual snow. Temperatures change. Drainage carries water across surfaces that were previously dry.

Those conditions can produce new hazards without another centimetre of snow falling.
